Time is a flying by! Yikes! Today is July 18 and I go back to school for inservice on August 17. I don't think I'm ready. Yet, at the same time, I am thinking about school almost nonstop. I blame it on the school supply sales and pinterest - I'm addicted to both! I dropped my school supply haul at school on Friday because there was no more room in my trunk. Office Depot and Staples both had lots of great things on sale, and then I made the mistake of hitting the Dollar Tree and Target's dollar section. Holy cow! There were so many wonderful things, and of course I had to pick up a couple of each. When I go back to school I'll lay everything out and take a picture.
I've also been 'pinning' like crazy! There are so many great ideas! Now what I need to do is to narrow down my list of things to make and make them. I won't have time during inservice, so I need to get on some of this stuff. I'm trying not to do school stuff while Little R is up, so that leaves doing school things for after 9 pm which means bedtime is pushed back. I am in trouble when school starts!
Right now I am sitting in Starbucks sipping a lemonade/tea concoction and narrowing my list down. Wish me luck!

JEALOUS!!!
I've been addicted to pinterest lately - seriously, addicted! I had one classroom board but after my hours long marathon last night, I think I need to go back and break it in to different boards - math, literature, centers, etc. I've also decided, I'm jealous! There are so many amazing teachers with so many amazing ideas and what do I have? The ability to 'pin' their ideas and reuse :) I wish I had some of my own ideas, but nothing yet, maybe they'll inspire me!
I'm also jealous of other classrooms. I looked at so many different classrooms and centers and organization systems, etc, and what I have concluded is...My classroom is tiny! Seriously! I had 20 kids this year, not bad, but with them, their desks, the centers I have - we were crowded. I saw rooms with huge morning meeting spots. I have room at the front right by the board, but some teachers had seats for all their kids - no way in my room! This year I'm reorganizing my room and hoping to maximize space. I have always done rows, but I'm thinking I may do tables - we'll see how brave I'm feeling.
Ooops, must fly, Harry Potter is on and I'm trying to watch all the movies before Friday's big release!

Taking the Plunge
So for the past year or two I have followed a couple of teacher blogs looking (aka stealing) ideas. In the past year, I have started following more and more and... well, you get the picture. There are so many amazing blogs and teachers out there and after a few minutes of thought, I decided I'd take the plunge and see what I could do.
A warning...I am not horribly computer knowledgeable. Last night I joined www.pinterest.com - awesome site! Email me for an invite - it's really cool and addictive. I was on it for hours trying to discover how to use it and pin. I figured it out on my laptop, but the pc and I are still arguing about it. I don't know how to post more than one picture to a post, so we'll see how that goes. I am willing to try though - isn't that supposed to be half the battle?
My 'about me' section kept telling me there was an error so I'll try again later. For now, here are the nitty gritties. I am a wife to a wonderful husband. I am also a mom to an amazing 5 year old boy, I'll call him Little R. Little R is going to start kindergarten in my school this fall and his teacher is a great friend of mine. It's going to be interesting having him in the same building! When I first started teaching I taught grades 5-8 for the first 3 years. I then took a few years off and went into restaurant management. The classroom was calling me back though, so I moved 700 miles away and started teaching at a small Catholic school where I remain today. My first 2 years I taught 3rd grade and then I moved to 2nd grade and have stayed there ever since. I love it!
Thanks for stopping by. I don't promise much, but I'm going to try to post some ideas and things I've been doing in the classroom.
